This time 2 years ago, the country was at a standstill and the whole world was watching as Kate Middleton married Prince William.
It was a beautiful day. Everything was lovely – from the weather, to the dress, to the atmosphere. There were street parties and Pimms just about everywhere you looked, and everyone was more than happy to raise a glass to the happy couple.
It doesn’t really seem like 2 years ago, does it?
Not until you think about how much has happened in that time. 2 Summers have passed, and another is approaching. We’ve seen the Olympics come and go (and the Queen become a Bond Girl). Continuing the Royal theme, The Queen celebrated her Golden Jubilee and Kate got pregnant. We’ve waved goodbye to Whitney Houston, Michael Winner, Maggie Thatcher, Donna Summer, Steve Jobs and Amy Winehouse – and danced on Jimmy Saville’s grave. The world was introduced to Drive, The Hunger Games and Django, and we saw the final part of the Dark Knight Trilogy. Bin Laden was found and killed, Gangnam Style took over the world, Justin Bieber went bad and Lance Armstrong was stripped of his titles. Despite economic hardship throughout Europe, Comic Relief raised £75,107,851 for fantastic causes. And Great British Bake Off took over the UK.
This has all made me think about what has changed for me in the last two years. I met a man, moved in with that man, lost my health, found happiness and so much more.
What about you? What are your most memorable moments from the last 730 or so days?
