Drooling about ‘The Domino Effect’ at Cafe Royal
I really don’t know what to say other than you MUST try this exceptional dining experience! I wasn’t sure what to expect but I would probably go as far to say its one of the best dining experiences I’ve had London (big call I know)
From 11th June- 11th July, The Club at Café Royal presents ‘The Domino Effect’, with chef Aurelio Morales of Ramses restaurant in Madrid. Aurelio along with Cafe Royal’s executive chef Andrew Turner have created an exclusive avant-garde seven-course menu including dishes such as: Watercress chlorophyll, quails egg, manchego cheese and crispy lamb bacon; Turbot citrus, fennel and tarragon; and Emphasis on chocolate with Arbequina olive oil. Bet I didn’t even need to rattle all that off, i’m sure I had you at seven-courses!
As a guest you will also be able to enjoy a paired wine as well as a specially created Champagne cocktail, made by The Club’s mixologist, Tiziano Tasso, in collaboration with Veuve Clicquot Rich. The menu will be priced from £85, with paired wines and cocktails at an additional cost of £50.
From the moment you walk into Café Royal the service is exceptional. We were greeted with Verve Champaign and taken to the The Domino Room, part of Hotel Café Royal’s Private Member’s Club. The room has been restored to its original glory, boasting stunning decadent artwork that tops off the whole experience.
The wine was flowing and perfectly matched the extraordinary food, my favourite course was the pork belly and apple, cooked to perfection with the skin crunchy yet chewy I devoured this in seconds.
Aurelio Morales (who is quite the babe so if you get a chance definitely say hello) is head chef of celebrated restaurant Ramses in Madrid, where his avant-garde and minimalist-style of cooking is spread across five different spaces. Having worked alongside culinary greats such as Ferran Adrià at El Bulli, and Paco Perez at Miramar, Aurelio, who is aged just 32, is a real upcoming star so you know you’re in for a real treat with this fest.
