Opened 1st July 2015
Maybe it’s the Italian in me, but I bloody love a good meatball. I therefore couldn’t be happier that an entire restaurant has opened that’s devoted to the little blighters. The menu is simple yet perfect; pick from 5 delicious balls (pork, wagyu, chicken, quinoa or salmon) and 4 sauces (tomato, bechamel, pesto and romesco) & a few sides, and your set. Conveniently located in the heart of Soho, the portions are healthy, the prices not bad. This is my idea of heaven, if we’re honest.

Opened 10th July 2015
I’ve been a fan of Megan’s in Fulham since not long after it opened back in 2002. Casual neighbourhood dining made excellent, it’s always busy, popular with celebs and us “normal” folk alike. They have just opened their second branch in St. John’s Wood and if it’s anything like the original venue, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Expect simple but wonderful Mediterranean style dishes, a warm atmosphere and a beautiful setting. I hear the Orchard Room, set with fairy lights and cherry blossom, is just lovely. Personally can’t wait to check this one out next time I’m local.

Opened 10th July 2015
Oh, this one makes me happy. While you may not have heard of Tom Oldroyd, you’ll certainly have heard of Polpo, where he has been Chef Director and certainly partially responsible for the growing chain’s success. Oldroyd is Tom’s first sole venture, and is split into two sections; a no reservations cafe downstairs (with al fresco dining if you’re lucky enough to grab a spot), and a bistro upstairs (which does accept reservations). Excitingly, the cocktail menu has been designed by White Lyan, who do some of the best cocktails in the capital (and the world??) The menu is simple European cuisine made with the best British seasonal ingredients. A nice addition to Islington.
