If you’ve been anywhere near the London food scene over recent months, you will have heard of, and probably lusted after, a Dirty Burger.
The burgers have been continually named as some of the best in town, and the ramshackle venue and famously minimal menu have done nothing to keep the hoards away. There’s just one simple option available – the cheeseburger (£6) – with a couple of sides, crinkle cut chips and onion fries (£3 each) and some drinks if you’re really pushing the boat out.
If you get there before 11am, they doubly spoil you, pushing the choices up to 2 with the Dirty Breakfast. Expect thick cut, home cured bacon or a house-made sausage patty with a perfect fried egg, loaded into Dirty Burger’s trademark glazed bun. Both come with bottomless tea or coffee. For just £4.40, that’s not a bad deal you know.
People have flocked from far and wide to sample the delights of Dirty Burger at their quirky venue in Kentish Town – although some, especially those wanting breakfast – have said it’s a little far to go.
Let us all come together and rejoice then, at the news that DB are opening a new, permanent venue south of the river, under the arches in Vauxhall. From next Tuesday (20th August), the doors of the new venue will open just seconds away from the station exit. Don’t expect anything fancy or plush – or to book. They don’t take bookings, ever. Do expect to experience a delicious burger and some of the best sides available.
