Eurovision 2012 – The campest TV night of the year?!

Don’t deny it. You love the Eurovision. Whether it’s for the quality music (cough), the beautiful outfits (errrrrm…) or because you like to laugh at the whole affair (most likely), there’ll be lots of us tuning in to shout “Nil Points” at the screen come 26th May.

Yes – I know it doesn’t seem like more than 5 minutes since Blue were humiliating themselves on national TV, but this month, it’s back…and we suspect it will be camper than ever. The UK are genuinely in with a chance to do well for once though, as the legend that is Englebert Humerdink, who is loved throughout Europe, is our hope for 2012. Amazing.

Now. Let’s face it. 26th May is just before payday for most of us…so chances are we’ll be in that weekend, watching every glorious minute in anticipation and some sort of weird glee. So why not make an occasion of it and host a Eurovision Party…complete with drinking games, euro-themed nibbles, optional fancy-dress and some blinking delicious cocktails!

Here are our favourite recipes for some scrummy drinks for the night:

Blueberry Babushki Vodka CocktailBlueberry Babushki

We love this cocktail…not only because it has a brilliant name…but also because it looks majorly impressive, and tastes just as good! Plus, it’s really easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Russian Standard Vodka Original
  • 6-8 blueberries
  • Juice of half a lime
  • 3 teaspoons of sugar
  • Crushed ice

Method: Muddle and shake 50ml of Russian Standard Original, 6-8 blueberries, juice of half a lime, 3 teaspoons of sugar and crushed ice. Pour it in a tumbler glass and garnish it with the blueberries. YUM.

Or…

Moscow Mule

For when you fancy something a little more traditional…

Ingredients:

  • 50ml of Russian Standard Vodka
  • 150ml of Ginger Ale
  • A lime wedge

Method: To prepare your own Russian Standard Moscow Mule you will need 50ml of Russian Standard Vodka and 150ml of Ginger Ale. Serve it in a high ball glass and garnish it with a lime wedge. Easy and delicious!
