Its 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and London Fashion Week is well on its way.
This afternoon I am attending Jasper Conran’s show and I am very excited. Showtime of 12.45 came and went, but the lights dimmed and we were on our way.
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, as must admit have never been to see one of Jasper’s shows, however from the first outfit I was hooked.
The first model walked out in a rich navy jersey suit. You all know I am obsessed about navy. Jasper is known for clean lines and tailoring and that’s what he delivered with a very summery feel. From the navy suit we went onwards to beautiful dresses in yellows and peaches, tunics in mint greens and white.
The show flowed beautifully, maybe because they were all wearing flats! (plimsolls even). You know my dislike of flat shoes, but it worked. There was no extra stress over 11inch heels. The models walked gracefully and really brought out the best in the outfits.
Few pieces stuck to my mind like no one’s business. The first navy suit was practically heavenly. Very clean cut, wide trousers, nipped and tucked. Very nice. There was a tangerine dress, which popped my eyes out for all the right reasons. Beautifully cut and executed. The color was like the sunset in late August in Ibiza. Viewed from a private villa with a mojito.
My favorite piece without a doubt was this very floaty two tone silk dress. The top half is sort of a nude color and bottom half the same amazing burnt orange. The dress floated, the model floated, it was one of the best pieces for next summer that I have yet seen.
Jasper Conran show did not disappoint. He is sticking to what he knows, clean cut tailoring, beautifully crafted pieces in very summery colors. Not one piece that I thought no one would wear. All wearable, all pretty fabulous. All very Jasper. Sundresses, cigarette trousers etc. The one thing that really impressed me was the selection of dresses. Seriously impressed. In all beautiful summery colors.
Thank you Jasper for reminding me that summer is coming and with your help it is going to look great! The women next summer will be dressed for English Riviera and I am loving it.
