Like Food? Like Photos? Want to Win £5k For Photos of Your Food?

It used to only be food Bloggers and professional Photographers who sat taking photos of their meals.

These days, everyone’s at it. Instagram is flooded with lovingly over-filtered images of pudding. Twitter is inundated with burger photos. The craze is sweeping the nation…and the globe.

Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2013

Some of the photographs are…a little ridiculous and unnecessary. But some are incredible. I love seeing images of people’s day at Borough Market, for example. The rich, vibrant colours and signs of busy London life are beautiful to me. And there are some wonderful photos of freshly prepared dishes on Pinterest that make me salivate and want to head to the kitchen immediately…

Unfortunately, I never get it quite right. @Whatleydude, on the other hand, captures some stunning images. And some of the people I follow on Twitter clearly have a lot of talent in this area.

If you’re one of them, I’ve found a great contest you should enter to share your images and hopefully be rewarded with some recognition…and maybe even an award! The Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2013 competition is open to everyone, and they have a host of categories in which you can enter your favourite shots.

Judges by renowned Food Critic Jay Rayner, the awards will take place in April – and is open to entries until 31st January. It’s so easy to submit your pictures; just complete the registration and start uploading. Professional Photographers, amateur snappers, adults and kids can all enter, and there is even a category for pictures taken on your mobile, so you may already have some on your phone worth submitting.

There is a small entry fee for all adult entries (it’s free for kids) but a big percentage of the funds raised will be donated to Action Against Hunger, which helps over 6 million people in over 40 countries with nutrition, food security and water and sanitation programmes.

The prize is a rather tasty £5000, plus of course the title of Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2013 and promotion to all national press.

Category winners will also receive some lovely prizes – details of which can be found here.

What are you waiting for? Stop submitting those pics to Instagram and Pinterest…and win some money for them instead!
