I’ve spoken a lot about art recently, and it suddenly struck me that not much of it has actually been in London. So I was pleased to see that just down the road from my neighbourhood in Notting Hill, this original new mural has just been completed.
The artwork, by contemporary artist Carrie Reichardt, was designed to celebrate Notting Hill’s radicals and creatives. In an area that has always seen it’s fair share of rebellion, the 10ft x 25ft artwork, made entirely from mosaic tiles, is a tribute to all the local radical, innovative and imaginative people.
I live round here. Does that mean it’s a tribute to ME?!
The final image depicts a mosaic brain and heart with the message ‘Think for yourself and act for others.’ Other graffiti-inspired pictures complete the picture.
If you’d like to see the mural in all it’s full sized glory, it’s just been unveiled under the Westway.
