QCumber Classics on the Canal

As much as we completely love the British Summer time, it can be a confusing state of affairs. Just when you’re ready to pack away your brolly, the heavens open and you realise that flip flops were a very bad idea.  But nevertheless, we must embrace these months, rain or shine and make the most of the long summer evenings. On Thursday, we did just that aboard Qcucmber’s 4 week pop up along the Grand Union Canal.

This unique event takes you on a journey that begins in Paddington and slowly meanders its way up to Camden. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the sights of Little Venice and London Zoo; it’s a great way to see London from an unexpectedly beautiful vantage point. Inside the canal boat, the quaint and traditionally British décor makes you feel like your stepping into a whimsical picnic in the countryside.

But here’s the best bit – the lovely folk at Qcucmber have devised a bespoke cocktail menu inspired by literary classics, such as The Importance of Being Earnest, Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Wind in the Willows and Pride and Prejudice. So, if you ever imagined yourself as Elizabeth Bennet arguing with Mr Darcy or frolicking in the forest alongside Hermia and Lysander, these delightful drinks transport you temporarily into your favourite fictional realms.  The gin based cocktails not only look great but are infused with unusual ingredients such as raspberry jam and rosemary and they all work surprisingly well.

If you’ve never heard of Qcucmber, it is going to become your new favourite mixer [Editors note…it’s already mine, after we gave away lots of cans in our recent Blog event goodie bags. It’s DELICIOUS). Not only do they use all natural ingredients it goes so well with gin – tonic has got some serious competition. This is a really lovely pop-up and if post work drinks are becoming a bit samey this summer, Qcumber Classics is a great way to try something totally different.
