I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this.
Juri Ravagli, the Head Chef at 1 Lombard Street, one of London’s more fancy City establishments, is re-introducing a speciality that was popular in the Tudor times this Christmas…the FOURTEEN bird roast.
This “treat”, which is available for private diners at the restaurant – is an extravagant twist on the bird-in-a-bird (Turducken) roasts that are all over American TV (and Iceland commercials).
So. What is it? Well – as you asked….
It’s a quail in a squab pigeon in a teal in a wood pigeon in a French partridge in a mallard in a woodcock in a guinea fowl in a pheasant in a Barbary duck in a Aylesbury duck in a peacock and a wild American turkey all stuffed into a goose. And some vegetables.
The monstrous creation will set you back £995, and serves about 20.
I have no words.
What do you think. Would you love to try it, or most definitely avoid?
