I love Japanese food and I love pop-up restaurants – so I’m completely obsessed with Bone Daddies’ newest pop-up shack ‘Shackfuyu’.
This recent addition to Soho’s vibrant restaurant scene is spread across two floors – the main dining area above, leading into a downtown Toykyo-esque bar below. Both areas are completely understated with a laid back, yet still upbeat vibe – typical of most pop-ups.
Shackfuyu doesn’t offer reservations, so I’d suggest enjoying a few (or many…) drinks downstairs while waiting for a table. With Asahi on tap, Cherry Sake and delicious bottled cocktails (cute!), there’s plenty to try whilst killing time.
The tapas-style menu is short and sweet – but all of the dishes offered are delicious. The Korean fried wings, coriander and miso roasted seabass and prawn toast were standouts – but the mac and cheese with bacon scratching deserves a mention also.
Make sure you save room for the one dessert dish they offer – Kinako French Toast served with a touch of wasabi green ice cream… it is UNBELIEVABLE!
Open until the end of the year – this gem is sure to become a Soho favourite.
