Yesterday morning at 7.30am, on a very wet dull and windy Monday morning, Patricia Whiteley, our Love London contributor rocked up to London Bridge to celebrate the launch of an exciting new global movement named ‘Spark Your City’.
Spark Your City is a global movement that is dedicated to bringing fleeting and extraordinary moments of joy to the everyday and often mundane city environments throughout the summer. Each activity is inspired and hosted by a number of women whose public and creative profiles have been harnessed to create an unforgettable and infectious message of happiness.
London Bridge was adorned with colour as Spark’s first ambassador, Radio 1 DJ Gemma Cairney, unveiled a 300m piece of land art on London Bridge.
Gemma was dressed to impress the passers-by as she signed the carpet of colour to launch ‘spark your city’. Some stopped to look, some appeared to not notice others were curious enough to ask.
My dress of the day failed to cater for the cold wind – and an abundance of goosebumps led all the ladies gathered on the bridge to head to Aqua at The Shard where a welcome orange juice and caffeine fix awaited.
What the weather lacked, the views more than made up for as the panorama of London now included the wonderful coloured walkway of London Bridge. Goosebumps thawed and a choice of wonderful breakfasts were presented.
I had the lobster eggs benedict, which was absolutely delicious; the most perfect poached eggs and the right consistency and flavour of the hollandaise sauce gave for the delight factor. Despite this, I still had mushroom and egg envy when the full English of other ladies appeared.
The coffee was as good as any high street barista venue and gave much needed ‘spark’ after the early start.
