Splurge on Fashion! The Caped Crusader…by MSalonen

Ladies, it’s time to aspire to something.

You should really have something that you wish for in life. Something you see and want THAT minute.

Leaving this item in the shop will ache like a rotten tooth and you will not be able to get it out of your mind until you have paid the pounds and bought that thing. Unluckily for some, often the time runs out…either the item has been bought by Some luckier (cash cow) lady, or they have run out of your size, or whatever.

So to save the heartache, I urge you all to SPEND SPEND SPEND!

We only live once, and if it is in debt, then so be it! You don’t have to eat every day, but you do need fabulous shoes for every day in the week.

So, here is my take on the must-have trend for this fall. All items available on (right now…GO!) Have you always wanted to do the “cape” look, but not quite sure how to pull it off?

Starting of course with my favorite, shoes…Doh!

Fendi Vertigo £875
You really cant be doing with silly little shoes with capes. You really need something that say BOW WOW! I have been waiting to “use” these babies for a while. Saw them a month ago and I totally fell in love with them. You will too.

These are quite tricky to wear. Usually if you spend almost £900 on a pair of boots, you want to get a lot of wear out of them. Sadly with these, not so much. Only really work with skinny jeans (black or grey), or you could possible do a black dress, black tights and the boots. Please don’t mix with florals, velvet or patterns.

Fendi doesn’t mix. They are the star of this show…

MiH Vienna Low-Rise Jeans £150

OMG! I think I may have just found the perfect grey jeans. This pleases me no end.

Never heard of MiH Jeans before, but there you have it. You discover something new every day in this life, so it seems. Leggings style, sprayed on. Like proper skinnies should be.

Skinny jeans are difficult as not everyone should be wearing them. Nothing wrong with little lardy bumps, but in this shade of grey, it will all be magnified. I would stay away.

Jeans though, I would always spend money on. Seriously. You get what you pay for. Totes.

And that little bird? Loves it.

Donna Karan Cashmere-blend sleeveless turtle neck £325

Keeping it simple. Loving sleeveless turtle necks for this fall. Cashmere-blend (BONUS). This will feel silky smooth, the colour won’t fade (nothing worse than faded black or two different shades of black).

That reminds me. Please never wear different shades of black. Get some black dye and re-dye your blacks every so often. Keeps them looking fresh and lush. Dylon does the best (maybe they are the only dye sellers) dyes. Use them.

Anyway, back to task in hand. Yes, turtlenecks in fabulous materials. Don’t buy anything with a polyester mix as you will sweat like a pig on a braai. Not a hot look for anyone. Case in point – Paris Hilton.

Burberry Merino Wool Cape £365

The shoes maybe the star of this outfit, but the spotlight should be on the cape, baby. In fact, I may need two spotlights. UGH!

Capes are difficult as you don’t want to end up looking like Mrs Zorro or as if you’ve walked out of some B-List Matrix spin off. The most important thing is to team your cape with the right items. Like the shoes and the jeans. Keep them “clean” and simple. Towering heels are always a good start. I think that anyone wearing a cape with flat boots will look like a hobbit. You need power-it-up with heels if you do a cape. Trust me. Anyway, this Burberry one is my fav at the mo, lush deep grey, great details, winner all over. Like with any cape, wear it open to get the full effect.

Philippe Audibert Manchette Tee gold-plated cuff £225

Now, this guy. Hmmm. I have been seeing PA’s stuff around NetAPorter for a while now and must admit, I like it. This cuff is brilliant. Not too shiny to be ghetto. Hmmm. Ghetto gold, thou..sometimes the only thing a girl needs. Am I right? Anyway, this one not so ghetto. But still brilliantly fabulous. Seriously. I am loving the pattern. Wear it now, with…well everything.

Bottega Veneta Large Veneta Intrecciato Bag £1,200

OMG! Its like my favourite bag ever. Bottega Veneta is really pushing all my fashion buttons right now. UGH! Love it. The leather, amazingness. Could do with the matching wallet too. There is something very decadent about this bag (and wallet I might add). Soft as if it is made of kittens. Big enough. Def my “it” bag of the season, and I don’t even “do” it bags. Trends come and go, but classics is what you spend your money on. This bag is my Birkin. Deal with it.

Bottega Veneta Sterling Silver Beaded Necklace £2,435

I adore turtlenecks. Fact. I adore them more when you wear team with something sparkly around your neck. FACT.

This baby will set you back few months rent, depending on where you live, but the sheer power you will get from wearing this will pay itself back within two days. Done. There is clearly something about me and BV at the moment. Wonder how that started? Did someone force-feed me BV while I slept? Who was it? Please identify yourself at once, so I can give you a hug. Thanks.

J. Crew Skinny Whipsnake Belt £35

It shouldn’t all be doom and gloom. As we all know (you didn’t hear it here first) skinny fabulous colored belts are the way forward this fall. I can’t get in the neon trend as it’s vile. But this purple beauty adds a little color to otherwise very dark outfit. Hang it low on the hips for an instant color boost!

And that’s your lot!

See you soon…M x

Hmmm agreed, but its not enough for a week, and I need a little more colour x

I am a Ruby and I NEED to be seen – all the time, but most especially in New York !!

I think I would like a bright/dark red or green cape or jacket for New York, in my mind it will be snowing when I get there, and I want to stick out really much and I think look very english, but very stylish english… maybe even parisian.

Anyway – we have a long time to work it ALL out x lolz xx
