TECH: Top 3 Cute Christmas Apps for the Festive Period…

We’ve been overwhelmed with information about new Apps this season. There seems to be one for just about everything…I wouldn’t be surprised if I suddenly find out there’s one that somehow manages to baste your Turkey while you watch TV.

Most of them, to be honest…are not very good. I mean, they’re just not needed. But there are a couple that could make things a little easier, cheaper or more fun. So here they are, the top 3 apps this Christmas!

1. Pixengo

Send Photo Greetings and Soundbites from your Mobile Phone

Pixengo is a cute app that allows you to upload a still photo, and personalise it further with a cute soundbite (up to 30 seconds). It’s a great option for anyone living far away from their parents, nieces, nephews, friends etc who really just want to hear their voice. It’s FREE to download from iTunes – and considering it’s now over 60p for a first class stamp, it could save you loads this Christmas as you wouldn’t really even need to send cards. Unfortunately it’s only available on the iPhone or iPad (silly not to release on Android in time for Christmas), but you can view the “Pixengos” on a computer so you don’t need an iGadget to read them…just to send.

2. Shopitize

Get Exclusive Money Saving Offers (wherever you shop) on your Mobile Phone

I’ve been hearing a lot about Shopitize recently. It’s another FREE app that helps you save valuable pounds on your every day shopping – wherever you decide to spend your money. You can save up to 50% on your favourite brands, and the money gets paid straight to your paypal account (or bank if you prefer).  The more you use the app, the more it gets to know your preferences and suggests offers that will suit you. The app is available on iPhone or Android.

3. ParcelGenie

Send presents to family and friends via your mobile phone.

I love this. I first received a cryptic message asking if I wanted to try out Parcelgenie – so being the curious little cat I am, of course I agreed! I received a text message telling me someone was sending me a treat and asking me for my address, then the next day, a gorgeous little parcel arrived for me to unwrap. It was just a token but still very cute…

The app is free and then you can choose the value of the gift you send to your friend. There are lots of options. It’s perfect for Christmas…but also just to let someone special know you’re thinking of them. It’s available on iPhone, Android and Windows phone, so just about everyone can get involved. Like just about anyone who ever walked the earth…I LOVE getting presents, so getting a little gift to unwrap really did make my day. My favourite of the lot as it provides something tangible.

So there you go. 3 free apps to download and enjoy in the run up to Christmas…and beyond!

    Hi JJ Miller,

We’re glad you find the Shopitize app helpful for all the Christmas shopping! Actually, the money our savvy shoppers save through our app currently goes to PayPal or we can send them a cheque if they don’t have PayPal accounts. We’re looking to implement bank transfer early next year if more of our users prefer that option 🙂

Thanks again for sharing our app on your blog
