The Big BAFTA Designer Dress Dilemma…

For most women, going out is always fun, but deciding what to wear is rather more of a chore than a pleasure. It involves so much more than just pulling a dress “that will do” out of the wardrobe. We have so much to think about – the weather, the guestlist and the dress code all have to be carefully considered. And then of course there are the extra factors. Which underwear do we wear? (we all know it’s illegal to have a VPL.) Which accessories match? How do we wear our hair and make up with each outfit? Do we have all these things or do we need to buy MORE??

Sometimes, I do think it would be marvelous to be a man. It all seems so simple. Choose suit, buy suit, wear suit. Easy.

Tonight, I have found myself in one such dilemma. I’m off to a wonderful bash to celebrate the BAFTA TV nominations at the Corinthia Hotel, one of London’s most impressive additions over the last few years. The dress code is “party frock” rather than Black Tie; the guestlist in undisclosed, and the weather? It’s glorious now, but could turn at any moment.

What is a girl to do?

Luckily, I have had half the work done for me. I chose the following two designer dresses from Wish, Want, Wear. A Hervé Léger bandage dress, or a Badgely Mischka floor length, deep purple number.

Herve Leger

Badgley Mischka

So I’ve narrowed the choice down to two stunning designer dress options. Now, all I need is your help. Which one should I wear??

(I have been lucky enough to have the dresses loaned to me for the evening from Wish Want Wear, but they are available to hire at £85 and £57 respectively. You get a back up dress free of charge too, just in case your first choice doesn’t fit!)

  • My opinion is that both dresses would look wonderful at the BAFTAs – but I have a place in my heart for Hervé Leger – and wearers say that they feel incredibly special for the time they wear it. So my vote goes to Hervé.

  • Given that you must have a golden tan and the sun is out to show it off to its bronzed glory I say Hervé Léger bandage dress…Maybe some shades as you walk up…beauty!
