About this time last year, I got an invitation to go and learn about Whisky at The Whisky Show. Now I have to say I was dubious at first. While we all know that I’m a fan of wine, whisky is not something on the drinks menu that I would first be drawn to. However I couldn’t have been more wrong. It was fascinating learning about the different regions and styles and, similarly to wine, it is about discovering what your own taste buds respond to, and finding a style that you enjoy. One of my favourites was the Glengoyne 20 Yr Old which was deliciously spicy.
This year on the 7th and 8th of October, The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show is back! It has been described as the finest whisky festival ever seen in London and is an opportunity for people to come and try some of the rarest, most exclusive whiskies the world has to offer.
The format has changed slightly this year. It has moved to one of my favourite London venues, Vinopolis, and Martine Nouet, whisky food pairing expert has joined the team to ensure that visitors can learn about the art of matching whisky with food.
As part of their ticket, guests will also be treated to a delicious, two-course, whisky infused lunch designed by Martine, whilst all the food will be sourced locally from Borough market.
The previous Whisky Shows organised by The Whisky Exchange pioneered the concept of the Ultra Premium Dram token, which guests could redeem for their choice of one dram from a selection of the finest whiskies on the planet. The concept was so successful, that TWE Whisky Show have upgraded this idea. As well as receiving two Dream Dram tokens as part of your all inclusive ticket, which allow you to sample whiskies worth up to £4,000, Show visitors will now be able to buy additional tokens for ‘Dream Drams’ – good news if your taste buds are as refined as mine!
For novices wanting to learn more, or even for experienced whisky fans wanting to improve their knowledge, master classes will be available to take part in, hosted by some of the greatest names in the industry.
Or if that’s not your thing and you fancy a more relaxed and informal whisky experience, enjoy one of the amazing cocktails on offer whilst taking in some live music.
We can’t wait. See you there!
Tickets for TWE Whisky Show are available from www.whisky-show.com for £95 for one day or £175 for the weekend.
