Here comes a bold statement.
In my opinion, this is the best lip balm IN THE WORLD. No competition. It’s incredible.
Let me explain.
I suffer, relentlessly, from dry lips. No matter the season, unless I constantly moisturise them, my lips are chapped, cracked and sore. It makes wearing lipstick a nightmare as it never looks as nice as it should, it’s uncomfortable and let’s face it, not overly attractive.
So for years, I’ve been on the hunt for a great lip balm. I’ve tried so may – Bobbi Brown (good, but not great) Boots own (greasy and rubbish), Vaseline (doesn’t work for me), Palmers (smells great, perfectly acceptable), Body Shop (don’t bother) and of course Blistex (average) to name but a few.
Last weekend though, my lips were far worse than usual. The extreme cold, a bit of stress and a bout of flu had taken their toll and my lips were bleeding and horrible. I was in Selfridges stocking up on cosmetics (Louise Mercier and Estee Lauder – my faves) and passed Kiehl’s – spotted a lip balm, grabbed it and moved on.
Now. It’s hard to explain just how bad my lips were as I didn’t take a photo, but let’s say on a scale of 1 to beautiful, they were most definitely a 1. If that. I didn’t really expect much from the Kiehl’s product except a few minutes of temporary softness, which most balms achieve, but from the application I was pleasantly surprised. The formula is non-greasy, quite thick and soaks in quickly, leaving your lips feeling nourished and lush.
The effects didn’t wear off quickly, like most products do, and I think I applied the balm another two times that afternoon, and again in the morning. I was genuinely amazed – by lunchtime on Sunday, the dry skin was gone, my lips had started to heal and they were perfectly kissable. In fact, this was commented upon – so it’s genuinely noticeable. And to show how quickly this stuff makes a difference, it’s now only Wednesday, I’ve probably only been remembering to use the balm twice a day and my lips are PERFECT.
It’s a blinking miracle.
I can’t recommend Kiehl’s enough. Genuinely, I’m so impressed I’d like to give the inventors a big hug.
If this is a problem you sufer from, I recommend you try it. In fact, try it anyway for super-soft, snoggable lips at all times. At £9.50 it’s more expensive than some other options but it works, and that’s not exactly going to break the bank. Definitely worth it.
