We are really pleased to announce that we have a very special new member in the TLL team – the remarkably talented Mira Parmar!
Mira is a hugely respected Make Up Artist, who will be here to answer your questions about hair and make up, give us some behind the scenes glimpses into life on the set, offer professional hints and tips and show you how to recreate some of the most fabulous catwalk and magazine looks with less expensive products, in your own home.
To introduce Mira properly and give you an idea of just how great she is, we asked her a few questions about her work, projects and plans for TLL!
How did you start off working in make up:
I never knew I wanted to be a make up artist but I have always loved fashion, make up, colour and the creative side of things, I was always good at art and painting from an early age and kind of fell into this.
I started working in TV as a Researcher and really enjoyed the creative aspect of the industry. Then I gradually started doing weddings and got involved in the makeovers for programmes and one day thought… yeah this is what I love and want to be doing this full time…. and have never looked back! The last couple of years have been hard work but its worth the blood, sweat and tears.
What are the favourite projects you’ve worked on so far:
I have done many small and big jobs in the last couple of years from editorial to fashion to commercial but my biggest job to date is my June 2012 Front cover and 11 pages for Vogue India. We shot it in Capetown and I worked with an amazing team.
I have also just been working in Bombay shooting a front covers and stories for Marie Claire India, Femina and also my next Vogue cover for December – so keep your eyes peeled!
I also would like to mention an amazing Job I got to work on for a couple of years with the fabulous photographer Patrice De Villiers. The job was for The Teenage Cancer Trust and I got a chance to work with artists like Kasabian, The White Lies, Sir Cliff Richard, Madness and many more talented artists, These images were then used in a Coffee table book called ‘The Rockstar Cookbook’ http://www.teenagecancertrustshop.org/love-music-love-food/
What are your favourite looks at the moment?
I love block colours on lips at the moment, very A/W! I’m also a fan of lips stains that depict that bee stung look products like Bobbi Brown Lip rouge and Laura Mercier Scarlet Lip stain can create that look without a lip brush!
Can you share your favourite make up tip of all?
To create great skin is hard work, but once you have that natural looking luminosity in skin everything else works around it. Apply a great foundation like bobbi Brown and buff it into the skin with a brush to give you fresh spa skin! i like to use MAC 187 duo fibre brush to buff foundation into the skin to create this look
What is the most common question you get asked as a make up artist?
Whats a great mascara to make my lashes look fab! I really love YSL false lash effects, its fab and gives you great looking lashes whatever length your lashes may be, and an alternative high street brand i love is l’oreal telescopic carbon black because of its tiny brush and pigment
Stun us with your fabulousness…which publications and celebs have you worked with recently?
Marie Claire India
Tiffany Rose Maternity
Long Tall Sally
Sir Cliff Richard
Which brands are your favourites?
I have so many brands in my kit for different things!
I really love Bobbi Brown for fab skin shades, Illamasqua for their colours and pigments, Laura Mercier for their bronzers, Givenchy for their under eye concealers Mister light, Guerlain for their beautiful makeup thats smells amazing and is so beautifully packaged and so many more – i could go on for hours!!!
We’re really looking forward to having you on the team at TLLWTL. What are you hoping to share with our readers?
