After the roaring successes of our previous networking events (thank you to all who came) – we’ve decided to embrace the good feeling and put on another do – on 12th June at The Distillers, Smithfield.
The topic for the evening is one that many people in the PR, Social Media and Blogging communities have strong opinions about – Should Bloggers write for love, or money?
There are some Bloggers who remain absolute in that they would never accept cash to write, and others who will happily jump at the chance to earn from their sites, especially if it’s a product they’d use anyway. Similarly, some PR/Communications agencies are strongly against the thought of paying for content – after all, isn’t that advertising? Whilst others see nothing wrong with recognising the Bloggers that have great influence and offering them pounds to post.
We wanted to get a balanced panel whose opinions we really value to help argue the case, so are pleased to welcome:
- Alex Myers (MD at Manifest Communications)
Alex has appeared before at our events and isn’t afraid to speak his mind (we like it. A lot). The Manifest team are behind some truly awesome award winning campaigns that have gained huge exposure both online and in traditional media.
Manifest don’t agree with paying Bloggers.
- Tiffany Maddox (Blogger Relations at Rubber Republic)
Rubber Republic are a boutique agency that help brands gain exposure by creating viral videos, games and content that audiences will love, strategically placing it where relevant readers will come across it in their normal internet use.
Rubber Republic do financially reward Bloggers under the right circumstances.
- Catherine Maughan (Founder of Perfectly Polished)
Catherine has worked hard to write honest and trustworthy blog content that engages her community and has earned her a loyal and enthusiastic following – as well as a ranking as the Number 1 most influential beauty blogger in the UK and a host of awards and nominations.
Perfectly Polished does feature sponsored content on occasion when it would fit with her opinions and readership.
- Holly Hunt (Vlogger and Founder of Yummy Mummy Beauty Blog)
Holly is a 25 year old qualified journalist with a real passion for beauty and anything make-up related. She’s also a busy Mum. Her blog is packed with reviews and tips as well as some great Vlogs. Holly’s YouTube channel has over 12,600 subscribers.
YM Beauty Blog doesn’t contain any sponsored posts or paid for content.
As always, we’re not here to make a final decision as to what is right or what is wrong. But we do like a good debate, so are looking forward to hearing what our speakers have to say! After our gorgeous host Mel Kirk (Head of Blogger Engagement at Jam, and Vlogger at www.randommel.com) is done probing our panel, we’ll open up the floor for a Q&A and invite your questions, so pleased don’t be afraid to get involved.
And of course, that’s not all. At TLLWTL, we’ve always liked mixing business with pleasure, so there’s much more to the evening too.
Here’s the itinerary:
- 6.30pm – Doors open, Champagne reception
- 7.00pm – Panel Discussion
- 7.45pm – Q&A
- 8.15pm – Charity Raffle for Breakthrough Breast Cancer
- 8.30pm – Networking Drinks – first round on us!
We’re really pleased to be donating any profits from this event to our charity partners for the evening, Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
