I am not particularly sporty.
I was, once, but since my accident and my illnesses, fitness usually comes in the form of stretches, yoga, swimming and walking rather than hitting the gym hard. I was never really into classes and the thought of spin literally makes my brain hurt. If I’m doing something to make me fit I want it to be low impact and fun – not painful.
That’s why I’m REALLY excited about an amazing new sporting venue that’s opened up half an hour from London (and luckily only a 20 minute drive from me), Rush Trampoline Park in High Wycombe. I was one of the lucky ones who got to have a sneak peek on Thursday, ahead of yesterday’s grand opening, and it is AMAZING. A vast venue, literally packed with trampolines, that offers so much for every one of all ages.
The launch event was bloody brilliant. There were cheerleaders, tumbling champions and rather hunky men doing a ridiculous amount of somersaults across the trampolines. There was Denise Lewis cutting the ribbon (and my goodness she’s GORGEOUS and was so lovely with my son). There were kids tripping over themselves to be the first to have a VIP bounce. And there was a whole lot of audible excitement about this new facility – which is unsurprising when you realise just how much Rush UK is packing into it’s schedule.
It’s not just jump on and jump off here. The activities available at Rush include open jump sessions, slam dunk basketball, dodgeball (and dodgeball leagues), fitness classes, toddler time (100% taking the mini, he LOVED it), after-school coaching, holiday camps, rush “after dark” events for teenagers and much more. The facilities are excellent, with climbing elements, challenge courses, foam pits and a battle beam alongside the sea of trampolines. And there’s a coffee shop with healthy snacks and juices for some relaxation time after all that bouncing!
Trampolining is a fantastic workout that doesn’t feel like a workout, and that’s why I’m so excited about Rush. It’s low impact, taking around 80% of stress off your joints – making it perfect for people like me with bad knees! That doesn’t mean it’s not as intense as other activities though. The G-Force created by jumping can actually QUADRUPLE the benefits of your workout, meaning you burn more calories, more quickly – and you won’t even notice because you’ll be enjoying it so much.
I am so excited to get back to Rush and try the toddler time session with my son, and I’m not even going to pretend I’m not going to get bouncing myself. High Wycombe is only 20 minutes on the train from London so it’s SUPER easy to get to, and is a great thing to do for both adults and kids. They even do children’s parties at really good rates, taking all the stress out of organising those parties and wearing them out at the same time!
Here are some of the photos from the launch. As you can see, it’s a fantastic place that is great to have so close to London.
