Recuperation and relaxation at Spa LONDON in Bethnal Green

Spa LONDON

Last Sunday was a bad day. I had a nuclear hangover, my skin looked grey, it was -500 degrees and the café down the road had run out of my favourite smoothie.#Firstworldproblems. So when Spa LONDON invited me and a partner to try out their new Midas Touch Treatment – I threw down my half eaten kebab, put on my thermals and ventured into the arctic abyss of Bethnal Green.

The spa is located on the lower level of the Bethnal Green York Hall Leisure Centre – a hidden haven of peace and tranquillity amongst fried chicken shops and discount furniture. We were welcomed into the VIP double treatment room – a beautifully romantic set up, complete with champagne and cupcakes – shame my partner was my best friend and not a love interest.

After de-robing and putting on fluffy gowns, the treatment started with a relaxing foot ritual using products from the spa’s Gold Range. This was followed up with an all-over body scrub and a steamy shower – leaving my skin really rejuvenated. The very act of scrubbing alcohol-ridden skin brings blood to the surface, boosting circulation and improving your complexion in the process.

Our lovely therapists then talked us through the deep tissue massage, which was next on the agenda. This involved using hot Thai herb compresses to massage our entire bodies – amazing! The hour and a half treatment was finished off with a warm oil body massage, which left us sparkling (literally) and completely hangover free.

We then spent an hour jumping between the saunas, steam rooms, plunge pool and ice fountain – which in hindsight, was something we should have done before our lovely sparkly treatments. Doh.

With it’s affordable prices and excellent location – it looks like my dream of becoming a lady of leisure is closer to a reality. Highly recommend.
