Recently my life has been super busy – I honestly don’t remember the last time I’ve taken a break. Much as I love to treadmill hard like the next girl, sometimes burning calories just doesn’t have the effect of getting you back to ‘you.’ So I took the chance to try out three different types of yoga experiences in order to try and get some much-needed balance in my life.
Run by Susie and Larah, Ibiza Retreats is a real gem of self-discovery. Away from the buzzy party scene of the south, Ibiza Retreats is an oasis of peace and beauty in the nature-rich landscapes of the north. I had the most incredible experience here during my Get Glowing yoga retreat, a 1-week experience where you get to try different types of yoga every day (including amazing morning yoga at the beach), complete with mindfulness meditation and lessons on nutrition, Ayurveda and various forms of healing. There is nothing that these wonderful people cannot take care of, whether it’s a career breakdown or a painful heartbreak. To top it all off, every meal is bespoke and prepared by private nutritional chefs, where everything is seasonal, organic and locally sourced. The best bit is being able to meet incredible like-minded people, all of whom share a desire to refresh their outlook on life. Without a doubt, I will be going there every year to recharge my batteries.

Yogasphere is run by the lovely couple Leo and Mandy, and boasts an incredible array of breathtaking locations around the city (fancy doing yoga on top of the Shard?), exclusive classes at the famed Matt Roberts studios, as well as some incredible yoga experiences abroad (Maldives, Bali, Morocco). Even Oprah is a fan! I recently had the opportunity to try one of Mandy’s Sunday classes at Buddha Bar, and was impressed by the speed and level of detail she went onto explain the logic of how each position affects your physiology. The approach here is definitely more scientific rather than yogic. She said that she and Leo built Yogasphere to make the age-old benefits of yoga modern and accessible by those who lead busy lives in the city. Too right!

Of the three yoga experiences, Triyoga offers the widest range of classes, and is located in various parts of central London (Camden, Chelsea, Soho, Covent Garden). It is a hub that feels like a real community, offering a wide range of yoga classes as well as various life coaching and healing treatments. I loved the convenience of the locations, but also the sense of camaraderie between members in different classes. The teachers are also from a diverse range of backgrounds and really knowledgable too, so whether you’re a beginner or a veteran, they are able to accommodate a wonderful experience for everyone. Can’t wait for my next class already!
