Sneak Preview at The Snow Centre: Boards, Boots, Bindings and Brand New Obstacles

Two leading snowboard brands, Burton and Flow, will demonstrate their collection for 2011 just 20 minutes outside of London. Visitors can try out all the new gear at The Snow Centre on Friday 27th August from 7pm – 11pm.

The top brands will bring in the latest technological developments which will make boarding a cooler experience than ever before. Representatives from both brands will be there to answer questions and help riders choose the right board.

Flow is famous for their fully integrated boards, boots and bindings, also known as Triple Threat Technology (T3). The Flow 2011 collection includes cutting edge boards such as the new Merc Wide. This brand new board features a revolutionary new base geometry, combining a slight curve for more forgiving turns with a special reverse camber.

With their new collection, Burton has tried to combine the latest technology with style, which is why they have joined forces with Adidas Originals and leading British fashion designer Paul Smith. Their partnership with Adidas has resulted in a limited edition line of men’s apparel and fancy footwear, while Paul Smith co-designed the 2011 Burton Vapor snowboard. Burton has also teamed up with artist Francoise Nielly of France, who is renowned for her strikingly colourful and vibrant interpretations of human subjects, to design the Lip-Stick Limited Edition. This women’s board is built with the award-winning Flying V™, which gives you the best of both worlds by combining the snappy suspension of camber with the catch-free float of rocker.

The reps will also bring in the NUG, compact, compliant board with an effective edge and a unique flex profiling to give you ultimate control. The board is ideal for mastering moguls and easy spins, while being very stable at high speeds.  For fans of the Armageddon, Burton will be bringing in the new Aftermath Squeezebox. The snappy suspension and drive of camber of the Armageddon have been combined with entirely novel core dynamics – thinner underfoot and thicker elsewhere – which makes the board easier to control and power up.

Burton will be returning to The Snowcentre on 8th October as part of the Burton Hi5 Tour. The team will be visiting every indoor snow centre in the UK and will be bringing 5 brand new park shapers with them to create unique settings for the freestyle competition. The competition won’t only be on the ski slopes this year, but will continue behind the scenes. The locals will have to try to create the ultimate park with the five obstacles and the riders will vote which indoor slope was most fun to ride. The winner will receive the coveted Golden Shovel Award, a limited edition package from Burton Snowboards for the winning 5 shapers and the title of “Best Park In Britain”.

The combined demo night will take place during a freestyle session at The Snow Centre. To test ride the latest Flow and Burton equipment, visitors need to book a Freestyle Lift Pass for Friday 27th August via 0845 258 9000 or www.thesnowcentre.com.
