You can feel it, can’t you? The second the sun shows up, London collectively decides it’s time to sort its life out. Plans are made, group chats wake up, and suddenly everyone’s talking about “this summer” like it’s going to be the one.
And this Friday, something a little different is popping up in King’s Cross that taps straight into that energy.
With the UK festival scene looking a bit… empty this year (we all know why), more people are starting to look beyond the usual muddy mess and into something a bit further afield (see what we did there?)
Enter: a simple idea from the lovely people behind the Sziget Festival in Budapest.
From 1pm this Friday, just outside Central Saint Martins (UAL), there’ll be a rep in a purple t-shirt holding a banner that reads:
“Fallow me to…”
Yes, that’s deliberately spelt like that. No, we’re not correcting it.
If you happen to be passing and feel like being part of something a bit more spontaneous than your usual Pret run, here’s the deal…
Those in the know (which, conveniently, now includes you) can walk up, say the secret phrase:
“Island of Freedom”
…and win festival tickets on the spot for themselves and a friend.
Not just any festival, either.
We’re talking Sziget Festival in Budapest—one of Europe’s biggest and best, often compared to Glastonbury in terms of scale, lineup and overall chaos (the good kind). Think music, culture, art, parties, and an actual island setting. It’s less “wellies in a field” and more “accidentally extended your trip by three days because you’re having too much fun”.
What we love about this isn’t just the free tickets (although, obviously, we love that). It’s the bigger shift it reflects.
Festivals aren’t just weekends anymore. They’re becoming full-blown summer experiences. People are building trips around them, blending travel with music, and turning what used to be a quick escape into something a bit more… memorable.
And honestly, London could do with a bit more of that energy.
