Get Involved with Alpro #Deskfest & Win a Trip to NEW YORK!

Fancy waking up to breakfast in New York?

Yeah. Me too.

Luckily, the lovely chaps and chappesses over at @Alpro_UK are giving you the opportunity to do just that!

All you have to do is eat a delicious breakfast every day and tweet a picture of it with the hashtag #deskfest. Easy, no?!

Alpro productsOf course, the breakfast has to include Alpro in some form – but you’d be surprised at how many products there are in the range. I am! I was lucky to be sent some products to try out, including Almond Milk and Vanilla Pouring Yogurt – both of which I am now totally addicted to. The yogurt is by far the most delicious vanilla yogurt I’ve tried, and my boyfriend agrees. So much so he pinched some and we had a teeny tiny domestic…

JJ does not share food!

If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest, you’ll probably see snaps appearing of my breakfasts over the coming week. I’m having something different every day; today I made a delicious Blackberry Smoothie (recipe below) and tomorrow I think I’ll have some cereal with unsweetened Alpro almond milk and mixed fruits. Or some yogurt with berries and honey. I don’t know. Too many options!

If you want to join me in my Alpro #deskfest challenge and be automatically entered into the draw to win the main prize, a trip to New York City, simply grab yourself some Alpro, make a delicious breakfast tomorrow morning, take a photo of it at your desk and share on Twitter (and any other social network you fancy) with the hashtag #deskfest. (I don’t have a desk – so I take a photo wherever I am). You can enter more than once, so why not join me in having something different every day this week and get loads of chances for that trip. 100 runners-up will win Keep-Cups…so you can take your morning smoothie, or coffee, with you when you’re in a rush and need to drink on the go.

Here are some of my recipes for delicious, quick and easy breakfasts for inspiration. Photos will be up on the site above throughout the week!

Blackberries, Alpro Yogurt, Alpro Almond Milk, Honey SmoothieBlackberry Smoothie

  • Handful of Blackberries
  • Half a glass of Plain Alpro Pouring Yogurt
  • Half a glass of Almond Milk
  • A big juicy squeeze of runny honey
  • A drop or two of Vanilla Extract

Throw all ingredients into a blender and blitz for a few seconds, and there you go! When I refer to a glass here, I refer to the drinking glass I will be using. No exact measurements here. Of course, you can also swap the fruits to include your favourites. Takes less than a minute and the results are DELICIOUS! Just look at that colour. Yum.

Yogurt and Berries

  • Good glug of Alpro Vanilla Pouring Yogurt
  • Handful of mixed berries (I choose raspberries, blackberries and blueberries – but use your favourites/what’s in the shops)
  • Good drizzle of runny honey

Nothing could be simpler than this. Pour your yogurt into the bowl, throw in the berries and drizzle the honey to taste. One of the most delicious breakfasts in the world! I also sometimes have this for dessert if I’m craving something sweet but light. Healthy and tasty. I like. (you can also throw some Granola in the bowl before the yogurt if you’d like some extra crunch, or something more substantial)

Blueberry pancakes (photo by @VickiHigham)Blueberry Breakfast Pancakes

  • 3 Eggs
  • 115g Self Raising Flour
  • 140ml Alpro milk (either Soya or Almond)
  • Handful of Blackberries

Start by separating the eggs – whites in one bowl and yolks in the other. Add a pinch of salt to the whites and whisk until they form peaks. Add the Alpro milk and flour into the yolk bowl and mix well, then fold the whites in gently. Heat a large, lightly greased (with oil or butter, your preference) non-stick pan on a low-medium heat, then drop in a tablespoon of batter. Scatter in some blueberries while the mixture still wet and flip once the bottom is golden. Done.

You can drizzle with some maple syrup, or a bit of butter and icing sugar, or even some Alpro vanilla pouring yogurt. Any way you go – these will be delicious!

These pancakes are so easy and delicious, and are inspired by a recipe over on A Life of Geekery, by our pal Vicki Higham. The batter can be made the night before and left to rest in the fridge – or you can make them in advance and freeze them, then just pop out the night before you want to use them and heat up in the morning for speed.

There are loads more things you can do  and if you need some more ideas, I’ll be happy to provide them. I’d also love to hear your recipes if you come up with something original. Just comment in the box below…I get excited by comments, so don’t be shy!
