Fashion is fantastic. Watching the trends change with the seasons; learning what this years “new black” is going to be; seeing new Designers burst onto the scene with a deserving new collection; I love it all.
Today’s fashion is rarely completely original. Inspiration often comes from eras gone by. Fabrics get recycled, reincarnated, revived. Colours are unacceptable one moment and then suddenly the next big thing. And as for shapes, lengths and styles? Sometimes it’s hard to keep up.
A few years ago, we may have scoffed at an elbow patch on a blazer – but now? Thanks in part to a handsome Matt Smith in a classic tweed jacket as Dr Who, Country Chic has been revived, updated and is very much on trend. Impressively, Harris Tweed, which until recently was struggling to stay in business, has reported it’s highest sales figures in years. Designers including Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood have embraced the fabric for the recent collections, and celebrities and style icons including Tinie Temper and David Beckham are stumbling over themselves to look like English Ladies and Gents.
Right now, it’s cool to be quirky. Eccentricity is allowed. However, you don’t need to dress from head to toe in tweed or dive head first into the geeky look. You can incorporate individual pieces into your wardrobe to update your current style and proudly wear your British Heritage on your sleeve.
Here are selection of great garments available now, that you can mix, match and look fantastic in…
