London’s burger revolution is showing no signs of slowing down, and Tommi’s burger joint are making the most of our love for a juicy meat patty, encased in a soft, white bun.
The popular pop-up, which originally launched back in 2012, has just reopened as a permanent fixture at it’s new location – 30 Thayer Street.
The intimate, 30 cover restaurant has a vintagey feel and will of course aim to offer the best burgers in the business. This is the 7th restaurant in the chain created by Icelandic entrepreneur Tomas Tómasson (the rest are in Iceland) and the project is being overseen by Tommi’s head chef Siggi Gunnlaugsson, one of the group’s most senior chefs.
Fan’s of the original pop-up will be happy, as not much other than the venue has changed. Just like before, Tommi’s will be keeping things nice and simple, with a menu purely offering a selection of burgers including a vegetarian option. Produce will be carefully sourced from within the UK, with meat from HG Walter butchers in Barons Court, and bread from Millers Bakery. The burgers will be cooked on an American gas grill to enhance the charcoal flavour, and garnished in the classic diner style with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, chopped onion and Ketchup. They’ll also be the essential fries, and homemade Béarnaise and cocktail sauces. Milkshakes will be a new addition to the menu, faithful to the American diner-style vibe.
The restaurant opened it’s doors yesterday, 6th August…and we can’t wait to get in to try it out.
