We don’t cover technology that often here at TLLWTL, but a couple of things happened this week that were worth mentioning.
First, This Little Lady got sent a sparkling white Nokia Lumia 900 to play with and it is gorgeous.
I used to have a Windows Phone, the LG something or other and I didn’t really get on with it. But, the Nokia Windows Phone really is quite lovely. Those of you who know me, know I live with @Whatleydude, and those of you who know him know that he’s a total mobile geek. He’s had a bright blue (cyan) Lumia 800 for a little while…so it was quite nice to get my hands on the bigger (and better) 900. Teehee.
The phone looks and feels lovely. The screen has a superb display, and there are apps to cover just about everything in the world. Literally. It also does useful tricks like link all of your contacts together from your phonebook, twitter and facebook, so you can see what your contacts are up to all in one place. The camera is great and the battery life is actually rather reasonable.
Now. It’s at this point I’d normally recommend you go out and get one of these lovely things, HOWEVER! Just as I get my hands on the 900, Nokia announce yet another improvement and launch the next range of Lumia devices.
And. They. Are. Beautiful.
The new flagship phone (the boy calls it their ‘hero’ device) is the Lumia 920. Here it is in a rather snazzy BANANA YELLOW – a colour that shouldn’t work, but somehow does.
It looks the pretty much the same as the 900, but has lots of fancy new stuff happening. It features wireless charging, super-smart video recording (in HD), and an amazing pureview camera, which is better than many of the digital cameras on the market. Basically, you can wobble it about and the photos won’t be blurry. (If you want the technical details, you should probably read this).
Regular TLLWTL readers will know I’m a Blackberry girl through and through, but my little Bold 9900 is getting a little temperamental these days. After seeing the Lumia 920 – I think I may be looking at my next phone. It certainly beats all those boring Androids and iPhones that I’m just tired of looking at. I still want to try out the Samsung Galaxy S3, but if that doesn’t blow my socks off, the Lumia could be the one for me.
That is, if the boy doesn’t get one first…
