Now, I’m a girl who lives life with, what my late Grandmother would call it, ‘flourish’.
I like nice things, I enjoy good coffee, I think nothing of spending a tenner on a glass of wine and when it comes to budget – well, budget smudget – don’t look at the balance, what the eyes don’t see, and all that jazz!
However, I like to think that I have a moral conscience. I have led on PR campaigns for national charities, and when I read about welfare reform, well, it makes me a bit ‘smashy’. I have seen what extreme poverty looks like in some of the volunteer schemes I have done overseas, but, to be fair they have been more about my experience of being somewhere new and doing something ‘good’.
However, Live Below the Line is something that I am doing merely as a sort of experiment, but also to raise vital funds for charities who fight against poverty. It’s hard to believe really than millions of people are living on £1 a day for all their food. A QUID A DAY? I bought a packet of chewing gum and some emergency Wotsits today and it came to more than that.
So, for five days from the end of April I will be Living Below the Line and my chosen charity is Action Against Hunger. ACF International is an international humanitarian organisation committed to ending child hunger. Recognised as a leader in the fight against malnutrition, they are making changes to so many lives.
For the five days, I will live on £1 a day for all my food. This from a girl who is a beast when hungry, has a love hate relationship with my waistline (it loves to expand, I love to moan about it) and loves nothing better than a lazy brunch with friends and chatter over endless cups of coffee.

More to follow – but for now I am off to make my shopping list and find out what time my local supermarket does it reducing!
