I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this, but it amused me, so it would be rude NOT to share.
We love burgers here at This Little Lady. If there’s a burger on the menu, it’s quite likely either Helena or I will be eating it. We’d be perfectly happy to go on a burger eating tour of London, trying out every delicious, juicy, handmade patty available to us.
Which is why, quite honestly I’m rather happy Atomic Burger is not located in London, but in Bristol or Oxford.
The restaurant menu is actually pretty cool. They have a huge selection of items, mainly named after famous names from music and movies. There’s the Dolly Parton “Double Stack” Burger, the Forest Gump “Plain & Simple” Burger, or the Scooby Snack Tater Tots…which all sound quite delicious.
And then, on the next page of the website, you find out what all the fuss is about. Welcome to Atomic Burger Fallout Challenge…possibly the hottest burger on earth!
Reminiscent of something from Man vs Food – the Fallout Challenge dares you to eat a triple burger stack, complete with XXX Fallout Ghost chilli hot sauce, housed in deep fried double cheese & tomato pizza buns. And that’s not all. On top of that, you also have to manage triple chilli fries too.
Sound OK?
No, you mentalist, it does not! The Ghost Chilli (also known as the Naga Bhut Jolokia), was once verified by the Guinness Book of Records as the hottest chilli in the world – at 10,000 times hotter than Tabasco Sauce. It’s since been knocked off it’s perch by the Trinidad Scorpion Moruga Blend – but let’s not even talk about that scorcher.
The sauce is so hot that to take part in the challenge you have to sign a disclaimer to promise you won’t sue the restaurant, which has to make you wonder what damage it could do to you, both on the way in….and the way out. PLUS – you have to wear gloves to ensure you don’t get chemical burns on your skin. Poor, poor insides. OUCH.
So far – only one person has managed to complete the challenge, but I can picture plenty of stag do’s and crazy people making their way to have a go very soon.
